A new square will be named after the murdered pro-Israel activist “A wonderful person, a worthy honor”
The city of Netanya announced today (Thursday) that a new square in the Ir Yamim neighborhood will be named after Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed in the United States on political grounds while speaking at the University of Utah.
The mayor, Miriam Fierberg, explained that this is a tribute in memory of a person who was defined as one of the most prominent lovers of Israel and a key advocate for it.
Fierberg said: “I was shocked to hear about the murder of one of our most prominent advocates in the United States, a murder that demonstrates even more so the manifestations of antisemitism in the world. The Jews of the world, the residents of the State of Israel, and especially the residents of Netanya are in pain and mourning the murder of one of the greatest lovers of the State of Israel who fought on the advocacy front for us and for our country. This is an escalation in the manifestations of hatred in the world toward the Jewish people. We will commemorate Charlie Kirk in Netanya and remember his work, as befits this wonderful person.”
